New year, new wall

The technical services team have been working their magic by recently rebuilding an old boundary wall located between the Eden and Old Courses. Work was required as the wall was falling into a state of disrepair with loose mortar and coping stones meaning it could become a health and safety hazard. We wanted to ensure the original character of the wall was retained so each individual stone was carefully removed and laid out in order. We even kept most of the moss and lichens intact. The outcome is that the technical team’s great work has conserved a little bit of our history here at the Home of Golf which will last for many years to come.

The below photos show the wall being reconstructed.

In terms of sightings, we seem to have a new feline friend here on the Links. This stealthy moggy has been seen around the Eden Course for a week or so and it seems quite at home catching mice and shrews. If anyone in the area has lost this particular puss then you can contact the Eden Clubhouse by calling 01334 466710.

Other local wildlife recently sighted on the courses include a peregrine falcon, upwards of 1000 knots which are the small birds that change colour from black to white depending on their flight direction, 4 redwings, 20 fieldfares and a brown rat (both pictured below).
