We are really happy with the way the projects have turned out and looking forward to sharing them with you

Winter work on The Castle

Over the winter months we have been working on our programme of on-going course alterations and improvements. These are based around the feedback from our members and our visiting golfers. We have listened to their feedback and, as ever, filter these comments into the thought process and work to continue trying to develop the golfing experience at The Castle Course.

The two main projects this year were the 3rd and 8th greensites.

On the 3rd we have extended the green out to the left by around 12 yards. The surround has been built up to allow the ball to be run up onto the putting surface which could not be done previously. The bunker middle left has been relocated to the left, behind the green.  The hollow to the rear right of the green has been raised up to make the recovery shot easier.

On the 8th we have built a shelve up the left side of the greensite to hold and stop balls running over. The left bunker has been raised up and is now visible from the tee.

We have also modified the shapes of some fairway mounds to make sure that balls run away from them as much as possible. This work has been carried out on holes 1, 5, 6, 7 and one mound removed completely on the 11th.

We are really happy with the way the projects have turned out and looking forward to sharing them with you in the flesh and hearing your feedback once more as we prepare to open The Castle for the 2014 season on the 1st of March.

To celebrate the season opening of The Castle Course, our ever popular £59 offer has returned. Find out more information on our website.
