The day the heavens opened

On 9 August, the Home of Golf experienced 46mm of rain in 24hrs. Severe flooding deemed the Old Course unplayable, something we haven’t experienced since The Open of 2015.

It was all hands on deck in an effort to clear the course of water. A credit to all teams involved in this process as play was able to resume the following day. Such weather is obviously disappointing for golfers but the freak squall made for some dramatic scenes. Here are a selection of what was captured on the day; not all were taken from the dry of indoors!
